AdZ Posted November 21, 2018 If you spot any computer related bargins during black Friday/Cyber Monday stuff post em here. Crucial 1TB M2 SSD £131.58 Western Digital 1TB M2 SSD £129.79 Not done much reading on these or M2 SSD in general, but afaik M2 SSD are supposed to be even faster than SATA SSD connections, these seem to be a good price. Also no need to fanny about with cables etc, these simply plug into the MOBO direct.
Telfer Posted November 21, 2018 Modern motherboards use SATA III which maxes out at a throughput of 600MB/s (or 300MB/s for SATA II, in which case, it’s time to upgrade). Via that connection, most SSDs will provide Read/Write speeds in the neighborhood of 530/500 MB/s. For comparison, a 7200 RPM SATA drive manages around 100MB/s depending on age, condition, and level of fragmentation. NVMe drives, on the other hand, provide write speeds as high as 3500MB/s. That’s 7x over SATA SSDs! Source: https://www.velocitymicro.com/blog/nvme-vs-m-2-vs-sata-whats-the-difference/ TL/DR - M.2 SSD's are 7x Faster than SATA3 SSD's. Definitely worth getting but at present high in cost. The Samsung 970 EVO Pro I am looking at in a 2TB size to replace my HDD is £499, but there is a free copy of Assassins Creed with it ;) https://www.ebuyer.com/836853-samsung-970-evo-v-nand-m-2-2tb-ssd-ebuyer-mz-v7e2t0bw
AdZ Posted November 23, 2018 https://www.pcgamer.com/uk/black-friday-2018-and-cyber-monday-2018-pc-gaming-deals/#section-graphics-cards Some good stuff here, very tempted by this offer the BF:V being thrown in helps. Also this Apparently 1080<2070<1080ti So although on paper the 1080 appears to have higher clock speeds, the superior memory of the 2070 puts it just ahead. They are very similar.

Telfer Posted November 26, 2018 Nice card but doubt I would have fitting space for the 120mm fan. Bought some more RAM sticks so up to 32Gb now, bought the 1TB Samsung EVO pro SSD (not NvMe) :(, and some air dusters. Will wait for GPU upgrade as not sure if I will secure my bonus by end of this week.
