The Country of Geraldybad, Eastern Europe

Situation
Over the last 24 hours Insurgent forces have seized two local compounds and forced the civillian population from their homes, communications between the Rebels and the local Government has been on going. They say the reason that they have acted this way is in protest to NATO forces in Geraldybad. The Geraldybad Government are trying to join NATO and have taken a Zero tolerance policy to Terrorist Organistions in it's country. As there are no Civilians in the area they wish to make an example of these Insurgents.

Mission Summary
VCB was tasked with a fighting patrol to clear the two local villages, after receiving our Orders from the Platoon Commander 1, 2 and 3 Section began to get their weapons and equipment together and get into their order of march at the FUP. As the sun was rising the Platoon patroled off towards the two compounds that were our target, each man laden with ammo and specialist equipment, it didn't take long before our first Contact.

As the Platoon pushed through a dense forest the enemy opened up at 1 Section, under their Steve, their Section Commander, they pushed aggressively onto the enemy firining points taking out a handful of Insurgents as they went. Meanwhile 2 Section was tasked by the Platoon Commander to flank around the enemy and assist 1 Section whilst 3 Section waited in Reserve - they didn't have long to wait.

As 1 and 2 Section dealt with the enemy ambush in the forest they were opened up from multiple emplaced posistions surrounding the enemy compounds, with no time to form up properly the Platoon Commander had deal with this new problem the best he could. The Platoon battled it's way across open ground, clearing bunkers as it went, to a low drystone wall and began pouring fire onto the enemy compound where the Insurgents were foolishly trying to counter attack the Platoon. 1 Section covered by 2 + 3 began to push 400 meters across open ground under heavy fire towards the first compound and after a bloody struggle of room clearance managed to get a foothold for the rest of the Platoon to launch through.

Next it was 2 Sections turn, under the cover of 3 Section they pushed across the open ground and began clearing more of the first compound, again with some close up room to room fighting. Once 2 Section had established itself in the Compound 3 Section joined them and finished off the last building or two. At this stage we'd been in contact for around 30 minutes, ammo state was critical and we had a number of casualties. The Platoon went into defensive routine as we were less than 500 meters away from the second compound, claymores were put out, arcs were given and lads dug in until they got further orders from Platoon HQ. The Platoon Sergeant used a local vehicle to return to the FUP and collect more ammo, back at the compound the Team Medic setup in a bunker and began patching up all the Casualties so we were ready for the second phase of the Op.

Under the gaze of the Platoon Sergeant everyone was bombed up and Sections re-distributed Anti-Tank assets, the next phase of the Op called for 1 + 3 Section to being the assault of the next compound whilst 2 Section holds the first compound to prevent it falling into the enemies hands once more and also to cover the rest of the Platoon, we weren't expecting the fight that was to come.

1+3 Section immediately found themselves getting torn up by enemy fire, casualties were taken and tended to by the Medic whilst they grimmly pushed on to their objective, whilst this was happening an enemy Armoured Infantry platoon were attempting to re-enforce the second Compound but found themselves caught in the open by 2 Sections fire, Javelin was used to great affect to utterly smash the enemies armour whilst their Infantry were cut down in a hail of accurate small arms fire. 1+3 Section fought house to house and cleared the second compound after expending much ammo but killing many enemy, they consolodated their posistion and their Casualties were dealt with. The Platoon Commander decided that to try and hold both compounds would stretch the Platoon so 1+3 Section moved back to the first compound under the cover of a battered 2 Section.

Once the Platoon had re-orged it was deemed the mission was a success, with around 40-50 enemy dead including armoured assets and only 2 of our own Killed in Action VCB showed it can punch above it's weight with superior tactics and firepower. Each of the 23+ members that were on this mission performed excellently with great command and control from the Platoon Commander down to the Junior NCOs and excellent skills and drills from the Riflemen.
